And in all of these appearances, Sayaka is either portrayed as a love interest or The Lost Lenore. She manages to get brief appearances in Super Dangan Ronpa 2.5 and in both sides of Danganronpa 3, and she has speaking roles in all of them. Recycling it is only something a company conscious of its works would bluntly do. This is characterized as an arc number solely due to it being a combination of two significant characters' significant will of causality (her last-second redemption through her killer's identification, Leon Kuwata's independent murder and confrontation of her). Come the sequel's fifth chapter, and this number is recycled by Makoto Naegi for the ancient ruins on the second island. Arc Number: The dying message of hers resulted in a misinterpretation of "11037".In other words, she had no way of knowing that anyone besides her intended victim would have to die. To further add ambiguity, some players forget that she died before the class trials were explained in the original game. Her Trigger Happy Heart Event in School Mode (a situation with significantly less tension than the main story) pretty much confirms that she genuinely likes spending time with Makoto. The manga does indeed confirm that Kyoko was right in this regard. It's implied that she left Leon's name at the crime scene to help clear Makoto's name or to punish Leon, though Kyoko mentions the theory, and when Makoto wonders if she actually did it out of revenge against her murderer, she adds that she still wants to believe Sayaka did it as a last apology to him for what she had done.

It isn't clear how much of her words were meant to manipulate Makoto, and whether or not she really loved him. Alternative Character Interpretation: In-Universe.This is likely intentional, on account of being the Decoy Deuteragonist. In reality, she is killed off in the very first chapter. Advertised Extra: Promotional materials, openings and endings often portray her as the female lead next to Naegi's male as well as his primary (or at least secondary) Implied Love Interest.Given that she is the first character to die, it makes it all the more tragic.
#DANGANRONPA CELESTIA FREE#
Aborted Declaration of Love: Sayaka's second free time event with Makoto starts with her seemingly confessing her feelings only to then abruptly cut it short and mention that they can follow up on the conversation once they all manage to escape. She's the first murder victim, stabbed to death by Leon after trying to kill him first.

Recognizing him from that day, she asks Makoto if she can be his sidekick during Monokuma's game. She and Makoto were classmates he caught her eye one day when he freed a crane that was stuck in the school pool, but they've never spoken. Sayaka is the lead singer of an incredibly popular idol group. My own personal complaint there, but from my own objective lens I see Celeste as a bunch of mediocre pieces put together, so writing wise I would give her something she obviously excels in.Played by: Hinako Tanaka, Kaoru Goto (stage)
#DANGANRONPA CELESTIA TRIAL#
As an unsympathetic killer Korekiyo works better and he domineers the trial far better than Celeste, in terms of having a mask or facade Kotoko and Teruteru or even Gundham do this better, and for the "Queen of Lies" bit Kokichi does it better.
#DANGANRONPA CELESTIA SERIES#
She's my least favorite character in the series and part of that is how compared to other games all her core traits are done better in other characters, leaving her feeling watered down. Kotoko does Celeste's whole deal better, both have a "mask" though Kotoko works on acting happy while concealing anger while Celeste takes on a whole new person, since Kotoko has moments where she drops the mask, and gives us good reason as to why she has it I consider Kotoko superior. A personal problem I have is if you've been masquerading as someone for your whole life wouldn't you become that person? Thinking aloud but say you act angry for five years, I would think you would end up an angrier person overall.

Show us more of "Taeko", one of the big problems I have with Celeste's whole deal, being that Celeste is the "mask" for Taeko, is we never see enough of the differences between Taeko and Celeste to truly differentiate them. Make her murder plan not shitty is the obvious answer.
